Iran 5th major OPEC gas exporter, 7th oil exporter in 2014
OPEC's Annual Statistical Bulletin for the year 2015 says Iran, a country having huge natural gas reserves and being the third major OPEC crude oil producer, finished fifth natural gas exporter and the 7th oil exporter of the Organization in 2014.

According to the OPEC bulletin, Iran's proven natural gas reserves is 34.20 trillion cubic meters, that is the highest proven natural gas reserves in the OPEC.


Qatar followed Iran in the list for 24.531 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.

However, due to sanctions and its backward energy infrastructures, Iran took the 5th rank in gas exports in OPEC for export of 8.36 trillion cubic meters of gas. Qatar, Algeria, Nigeria and the UAE preceded Iran in the list.
