Iran’s envoy to Moscow hails strategic presence in Shanghai Cooperation Organization
Moscow, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali has emphasized that the Islamic Republic’s active participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is not merely symbolic but a strategic step forward.
Jalali wrote in a post on his X account on Monday that as Iran prepares for the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) in Moscow on November 17–18, 2025, this engagement represents a crucial opportunity to address regional challenges and enhance trade relations.

Jalali highlighted that the visit of First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref to Moscow aims to explore avenues for increasing economic exchanges and establishing a roadmap for future multilateral cooperation.

Key agenda items for the meeting include improving financial infrastructure, promoting e-commerce, and advancing mutual investment in various sectors such as health, environment, energy, transport, and security.

The ambassador underlined that Iran's involvement in the SCO is integral to reinforcing its position in the evolving global order, which is increasingly shifting towards a multipolar framework.

The summit will see discussions on ten prepared documents that, if approved, will pave the way for deeper regional collaboration and partnerships with other organizations like Eurasia, ECO, and UNESCO.

Iran plans to assert its readiness to foster cooperation on regional and international issues during the event.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization comprises Iran, Russia, Belarus, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan
