President Masoud Pezeshkian said Sunday that Iran faces serious challenges if it fails to improve resource management and reform consumption patterns, stressing that state media can play a key role in promoting a culture of energy conservation.
According to president.ir, Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with the head and senior managers of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.
He said the country’s main concern today is not “missiles, bombings or war,” but preserving social calm, unity and cohesion.
“Maintaining national unity and solidarity is far more important today than military and security issues,” he said.
Pezeshkian described the role of national media in encouraging efficient consumption and reducing waste as decisive noting that consumption levels in Iran remain high.
“If we fail in resource management and reforming consumption patterns, we will face serious problems,” he said, adding that state media can effectively raise public awareness about the importance of saving resources.
Referring to Quranic teachings, Pezeshkian said extravagance and wastefulness are condemned in Islam, warning that failure to adopt a culture of conservation would weaken the country’s resilience.
He also called for efforts to ease economic pressures on citizens and said all Iranians, regardless of religious or intellectual orientation, should be able to live with dignity and respect.
