Fajr Jam Gas Refining Company has launched reconstruction efforts for a major sweetening and cooling unit damaged during the recent 12-day war, according to company officials.
Managing Director Hamid Khedri said the facility sustained extensive damage to its amine, acid and propane fans, metal structures, piping, valves, electrical and instrumentation equipment, and the absorption tower.
While initial estimates projected an 18- to 20-month timeline for the project, Khedri said officials successfully negotiated with contractors to accelerate the work, reducing the execution period to 10 months.
"Given the damage to other gas facilities across the country, restarting this unit is of strategic importance," Khedri said.
Debris removal and scaffolding are currently underway, employing about 170 people. That number is expected to peak at 350 workers during the height of the operation.
Once the unit is back online, it is expected to restore 12 million cubic meters of sweet gas and 3,000 barrels of gas liquids to the refinery’s daily production, with an estimated value of more than 52 billion rials per day.
Khedri emphasized that the project relies entirely on domestic expertise and contractors. Local firms are handling the manufacturing and installation of air fans, the internal coating of the absorption tower, and overall project management and oversight.
The scope of the reconstruction includes the installation of 700 pipes and fittings, 220 electrical and instrumentation components, and the restoration of the absorption tower. The project also requires 4,000 welding joints, 7,000 meters of industrial coating and insulation, 400 tons of steel structures, and the procurement and installation of approximately 40 tube bundles along with their associated fans and electric motors.
