Oil minister said reconstruction work on Phase 11 of the South Pars gas field has picked up speed, part of a broader push to boost the country's natural gas production and supply over the past two years.
Mohsen Paknejad said Iran has tapped every available resource to raise output and get the maximum volume of gas into the national grid. He said drilling in-field wells and developing gas fields have been central to that effort.
Paknejad pointed to rising production at the shared South Pars field, noting that much of the field's new capacity has come from in-field well development.
New drilling and expanded production capacity, he said, are being pursued alongside other measures aimed at maximizing the country's gas supply.
According to the report, development of South Pars Phase 11 has moved forward more aggressively since the start of the current administration. The phase's 10th well, at the SPD11B site, has now entered production, pushing rich gas output from Phase 11 to 24.3 million cubic meters a day — about 858 million cubic feet a day. That marks more than a 100% increase in the phase's output under the current administration.
With the 10th development well now on line, daily rich gas production from the field has grown by more than 2 million cubic meters.
