Hamid Bovard was formally introduced as caretaker oil minister in a ceremony attended by First Vice President Mohammadreza Aref.
The ceremony was held Tuesday, with Aref, deputy oil ministers and senior oil industry officials in attendance.
Aref praised former oil minister Mohsen Paknejad’s performance over the past 26 months, particularly during the war, saying he had maintained a comprehensive view of the country’s needs and helped address national challenges under difficult conditions.
Bovard thanked Paknejad for his efforts and emphasized that the Oil Ministry’s production and development programs would continue.
“Activities at the Oil Ministry will continue with strength,” Bovard said.
President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed Bovard as caretaker oil minister Sunday, Oct. 4, after accepting Paknejad’s resignation.
